Catching Feelings (Part 3)

Posted by Unknown

After months of loneliness, April got a bit quieter at school most of the time. She missed Justin a lot. She used to sit next to him every lunch and got into a little food fight. Everyone used to tell them to stop. April missed the presence of Justin by her side. She missed Justin and their time together.
“Hey, what’s wrong?” Ryan approached April while bringing his lunch to the table.
“I miss him,” April answered quietly. She stared her lunch with a pair of sad eyes and a blank expression.
“We do, too. But don’t worry. He’ll come back soon. He’ll be performing live in one of the venue around here,” said Ryan trying to cheer her up.
“Let’s just hope so,” April ended the conversation before getting her eyes watery…again.
The lunch time was over and everybody got back to their next class. It was hard for April to walk alone now. Justin was always there to walk her to class before he left. Now, April had to walk alone and feel the absence of her best friend.

It had been two years since Justin got his name on the A-list board. He had become one of the biggest sensations all around the world. He already toured to some of the biggest cities across the world. But, the one thing he still hadn’t done was to go back to his hometown. He never felt homesick again. To be honest, Pattie started to feel worried about Justin. He changed into someone different. Justin was a bit cold and unresponsive and also cocky sometimes. Pattie worried that she might lose the old friendly and warm Justin everyone used to love.
“Hey, Justin can I talk with you for a minute?” asked Pattie after Justin did an interview. She dragged him into his dressing room. “Don’t you feel it?”
“Feel what, mom?” Justin asked annoyed.
“You’ve changed. I’ve been watching you for the past eight months. You look so different and act a bit like a jerk,” Pattie criticized.
“Mom, really? I haven’t changed. I just grew up. I’m still me, but I’m a more mature me. I’m not a jerk, mom. Trust me,” Justin defended himself.
“No, honey, tell me. What’s wrong?” Pattie asked with a worried expression. She could see the disappointed and scared look on Justin’s eyes. She knew something had hit Justin hard and made him like this.
Justin took a deep breath. “I’m not ready to go back to Canada. You know how worried I am, knowing that my best friends might forget me? That’s why I became cold and unresponsive. I’m just preparing for the worst to happen.”
Pattie hugged Justin and calmed him down. “Justin, honey, that’s not the way to solve that. I’m sure your friends will still remember you. They still love you just like they did years ago. Now, can you please correct yourself and change to the old you?”
Justin nodded and got out of the hug. He went outside his dressing room to get ready for another session of an interview. It was a bit strange for Justin to change his act. So, he decided to disobey his mom and kept on acting like a jerk, just like what his mom said.

“Every time Justin got asked by the media about his love life, he will always say that he’s already got a special one. Why does this teen-sensation always say that? Stick around to find out!” the host of the entertainment closed the segment before commercial break.
April, who was watching the show, got a bit upset about that. She got disappointed. Her face turned red and if Justin was there, he would know that in about three minutes, April would blow up.
The show was back on and April stayed to watch. The host showed a clip of an interview session with Justin.
“So, Justin, I heard you’re single. Is that true?” asked the interviewer.
“Yep,” Justin answered shortly, looking uninterested in this particular topic.
“Oh, so you don’t have anyone special at the time?” the interviewer asked again.
“I do. But I guess she doesn’t like all the publicity and everything. So, let’s just keep this low and quiet,” Justin drove the topic to another direction.
April, on the other situation, got upset. She found out that Justin already got a new girl. He probably didn’t need any presence of a best friend anymore. So, April turned off the TV and went upstairs to her room.
There she was. Looking at the ceiling and feeling disappointed because of her best friend who’s now famous. As time passed, the walls around her heart got thicker and tighter and also stronger. She decided to close her heart because she knew her best friend is going to leave her for someone better. April closed her eyes and tried to burry all of her memory slowly.
