I kept flipping the pages. Searching for the name of someone familiar. I was right about to give up, until I found the perfect name. I smiled and glanced at the name and the picture next to it. It was three years ago. I couldn't remember it straight, but flashback floated in my head.
That picture reminded me of the day I first saw the person. He was so kind and funny, also helpful. He reached out his hand and introduced himself to me.
"Hey, I'm L (Initial of the person)." he said it softly.
"Hey, I'm Y (My initial)." I replied.
"Nice to meet you, Y," he answered back.
"You, too... So, can you show things around here. I'm not used to the situation. I need a little help and one guide to show me around," I asked politely.
"Sure... I'd love to. And, plus, I'm free today," he answered happily.
"Thanks... Umm... See you at lunch, then," I walked pass him and smile.
I snapped out of the flashback. It was unforgettable moment. He held my hand so tight when we introduced ourself to each one. I was smiling all the time, so was he. We were just adorable together. I was still looking at that picture. I never realized tears were already there down my cheeks. I couldn't stand it no more. He was the first guy friend I've ever met. No boys introduced themselves first when they met me. He was the first one who told me his name and shook my hand lightly.
I closed the album. It made me cry for more if I keep looking at each name and pictures. There were tons of happy moment I've shared with all my friend, especially him. The first picture, on the first page, is the picture of me. I had my peace sign. It was one cute picture of me. I also had my sweet smile and my perfect hair-day. I didn't know why that day was all just so damn flawless. But, I loved it.
Then, on the next page, there were my friend, D (her intial) and De (the other one who has D for the first letter) and myself. We were smiling and making some funny faces. I was so weird and cute, I think. D was so full of herself. De was just regular crazy girl who has the best funny face. We were just so fit together. I was in the middle all the time. So, I was like the exact point.
The happiest moment is on the last three pages. There were me and L. We were at the dance prom. I was talking about stuff with him, but someone took a picture of it. And the picture turned into a romantic one. He was laughing in that picture. I was too. Then, there was a picture when I dance with him. I was leaning my head on his shoulders. He wrapped his arms around my waist. I wrapped mine around his neck. The spotlight was spotting us. We didn't notice.
I smiled when I saw that picture. L and I were so cute together. But, we never catched our guts to say we like each other. And, unfortunately, he couldn't say it straight. When it got closer to the main things about those words, we stuttered when we talked. Then, we bursted out stupid reasons and excuses.
"I wish I can go back in time. I wanna say it to you..." I said to myself and I inhaled some air. I regret it. I regret losing the chances which might never come again. I've lost my first and maybe last chance to be in a relationship with you.
Those moments I've cherished with him and all of them were unforgettable, lovable, meaning-ful, one of a kind, and rare moments I will always remember in my life. It was the time I met LOVE. The first time LOVE introduced itself to me. The first time I understood what FRIENDSHIP is. The first time I got the meaning of RELATIONSHIP. The first time I smiled even if I was crying inside. The first time I talked in different languages. The first time I knew that that was my first time knowing everything. I've cherished everything with L and others. With my two besties, D and De. They were so thought-ful and helpful for me.

Hey, What's Your Name? (Continue...)
When I saw it, it was... It was that boy. They boy who was in the same math class as me this morning. Wow! Fate gave us another chance to meet. Thanks, fate... He didn't look up yet. He didn't even notice I was there. That made me sad, a little though. Finally, the teacher told us to dig in the food. I turned all the way facing my food, and so does that boy. Now, we were half facing each other. Then, I reached my hand to get my water, I looked at the boy.
"Hey, you're the girl who was in my math class, right?" he asked politely.
Does it have to take five freaking minutes for you to notice me?! Well, I'm happy though, I growled to myself than drew my smile to him.
"You're right. I am. Aren't you gonna eat? Or, you're too afraid to get fat?" I threw my joke. He chuckled and began to reply my question with his cute, irresistable smile.
"Nah... Don't you realize?? We've been eating these foods for two days straight. I'm bored and I've already fulled of those thing. My stomach wanna throw up if I stuff it with some more..." he laughed and put his hand on the edge of the table, he crossed it.
"I know. I'm full of these foods, too. But, I can't live without dinner. And I have no idea why I'm not fat," I said joking. I started to chew my foods. I felt my lip tip covered by gravy. That boy laughed and pointed to those spot. He took a napkin and reached his hand out to wipe it.
"I'm sorry. Let me just wipe it for you," he said while wiping the corner of my lips.
"Nah, I don't mind. In fact, you're one professional gravy-wiper. Hahaha..." I said. My heart melted when he finally touched my lip tip with the napkin. He wiped it so steady and careful. He's such a gentlement.
"There..." he said when he was finally finished with all the wiping things. He smiled and dished the napkin. I was really lost in his cute gray eyes. Wow... Amazing feeling.
"Thanks..." I threw my smile back at him.
Rebecca and Stephanie were watching us. They smiled and giggled and they whispered something. I hate when they whispered something I couldn't hear.
"What are you guys doing?" I asked them and kind of slap Rebecca's arm lightly.
"First, ouch... Second, we were just talking about... about our roomates... hahaha..." she burst out laughing. I blushed and looked down.
Dinner was done at 8.30. Students took one and a half hour just to eat their dinner? Damn, they eat slow...
So, I went back to my room. The whole walk were filled with Rebecca and Stephanie teasing word. They were annoying. But, I enjoyed it.
"You're totally into that boy. Admit!" Rebecca forced me to admit. Well, yeah... But, hey, he's cute...
"Am not!" I denied. I was freaking suck with denying things. Damn!
"Are too. Don't you realize some habits you have that make everyone knows every time you try to deny something? You always furrowed your eye brow when you were denying something," Stephanie got me now.
"What...? Psssh... No.. I wasn't.. Psssh... Ugh! All right, I do like him. He's different from others, has an irresistable cute smile, one opened-mind and opened-heart, and he's cute!" I finally admitted it.
"Do you know his name?" Rebecca asked.
It was silence....

It was silence....
Hey, What's Your Name?
I was just entered my new school. It was bigger than the old one, a LOT bigger. I don't know what my parents were thinking before enrolled me to this school. They spent a huge mount of money on this school. So, the reason why my parents wanted me to enter this school is... To have more friends and self-confidence. Yeah, I'm such a shy girl and a quiet person. I just hate to talk and make comments about stuff, it can turn into some fight or arguments.
Okay, it's math time. I have no idea why there were only 10 kids in this class. And unfortunately, boys ruled this class... Ugh! I'm having some issues with boys around this school. They're so freakin' annoying and stuff. I really hate when they bother me with those so-not-funny jokes. And I can't believe there were like five boys in my school who have crushes on me, big CRUSHES!!! Eww... I don't like any of them. Why do I have to like them when I'm hating them? Duh...My math teacher is a total GEEK! She's literally kill me with those algebraic problems. Wow! But, this boy, kind of helped me on several problems. He seemed so nice and cool, and different from others. However, I'm not into him, just admiring the way he reexplained the formulas for me. you're falling for him... My heart whispered when I was lost in this boy's cute gray eyes. I quickly shook that weird thought out of my head.
"Jasmine?..." he pronounced my name perfectly. "Jasmine? You didn't pay attention, did you?"
"Huh? What? Pssshhh... I did. I was just so confused with those problems!" I whined and lied at the same time. And those lies didn't work well. Why? Because he explained those problems like three times already. I look blankly stupid.
"I already explained it to you for three times. Come on, focus! I know you understand it... Okay, now try this one," he said convincing me. How can I focus when you looked straight to my eyes? Damn, you look... cute! I talked to myself quietly. Wait, whoa! I did not just say that! He's normal and... just normal! Arrrggh... Whatever! I straighten my last thoughts.
"Thanks. Okay, let me try..." I answered excitedly.
I beat those problems. He smiled so bright and cute when I said, "BAM! I beat you, freakin' not cool algebraic problems!" He laughed and hit my right arm playfully.
"What? I know I'm smart... And I know you're proud of me, aren't you?" I said to him with a little giggle.
"Pssh... Am not. You're just funny. You cheered like a little five years old girl. You really can change your mood quickly, huh?" he denied the fact that he actually proud of me. I laughed inside my heart, melted.
"Are too. Yup... I'm a pretty good mood-changer, right?" I joked and hit his arm back playfully.
"Whatever... Anyway, I have to go. Biology is my next class. The teacher... Please, don't ask," he said shaking his head. It means he really hate the biology teacher.
"Hahaha... So, umm... See you round!" I said still sitting on the chair in the math class. I didn't know where the teacher was, she's gone already. So, I walked out of the class three minutes after that boy went away. I felt butterflies jump around in my stomach. It didn't hurt, but it tickled me and made me want to smile all the time.
"Wait... Oh man, I didn't catch his name! Arrgh... Stupid me!" I said when I was right in front of my gray locker. I opened it with my disappointed face. I really was a stupid girl. After two hours of together-time, I still don't know his name. Wow to me...
---
Classes were over at three. I walked back to my room. Oh, my school is actually a hostel. But, I really am lucky because I don't have to share my room with three other girls. There were only three people who stayed in this room, me, Rebecca, and Stephanie. One of them is so girly. I hate girly girl, but I think I have to live with her.
Dinner was ready at seven, and the principal announced it by the speaker thingy. All rooms have two speakers. With that fact, none of the student can excused. Rebecca asked me if she could walk with me to the lunch room. I definitely said yes. Stephanie accompanied us and walked behind us.
When we arrived at the lunch room, I could barely find silence. They were talking to their lunch-mates. Some of boys were talking to others boys. Some other boys were flirting with other girls, so as the girls. Some girl also talking to the teachers. Rebecca, Stephanie, and I finally found one perfect seat to enjoy our dinner.
The foods were already served on the table. So many choices. But, it was really weird that the seat in front of me was still empty. Then, someone sat there. I didn't see who that is. When I saw it, it was...

Meet First Love In Junior High School
Since three months ago, I entered my new school, my new junior high school. It wasn’t far away from my house. I was really excited for the whole new things. Oh, ya… How rude? Let me introduce myself. My name is Desta Linka. I’m now, an official 7th grader and my new class is seven five. I already found some new friends at my school. Now, I always go with them through anything.
At 7:00 am, the school bell rang so loud. I wasn’t seeing that coming, and I was shock. Every student went to their class for the first lesson. Well, this junior-high school has reading-Qur’an session in the morning. So, we’re always read Qur’an every morning.
My new class is really comfortable and nice. A couple of weeks ago, all the seven five students helped me and other caretakers to designed the class. We took some pictures, too.
My seat is behind Fitri, one of my friend, and beside Ria, another friend. Anna is seating next to Fitri. They are all my friends, new friends. So, since the first day we met, I always shared my problems with them and sometimes, try to figure the solutions out together. We were always there for each other.
“Hey, how’s your breakfast?” asked Anna while she put her bag on the table.
“I didn’t have any breakfast this morning. Now, I’m starving!” groaned Ria then she stood up and hit her desk with an upset expression.
“Calm down. We’re going to accompany you to eat at the canteen. But, wait until recess time, okay?” Fitri said patiently.
Anna and I looked at each other. We nodded to Fitri and smiled to Ria. So, she calmed down a bit. Then, the lesson started very serious. It was math, fun to learn. But, sometimes, I couldn’t find the right answer. So, I asked Anna, because she’s really proficient in math.
Fifteen minutes later, somebody knocked on seven five’s door. All students gasped and wondered who that is. Then, we waited for that somebody to walk in.
“Assalamu’alaikum,” said a boy who just walked in.
“Wa’alaikumsalam,” we replied in unison and threw smiles to him. He returned the smile back.
“Mrs., this is something from their homeroom teacher. She asked me to give it to them. And, may I have the chairman’s attention?” he asked politely.
“Oh. Okay, then everyone, who’s the chairman of this class?” asked my math teacher.
“Me,” Anna stood up and went straight to the teacher’s desk and talked to the boy. He gave Anna a piece of paper and told her to retype it.
“Thanks,” Anna said while the boy left the class.
“You’re welcome. My pleasure,” he answered with a smile.
When Anna got back to her sit, she smiled and kind of scared Fitri, me, and Ria. Because, after that boy went out of the door, Anna couldn’t stop smiling.
“What happened to you? That boy hypnotized you, Anna! Why can’t you stop smiling?” I asked and hit her arm playfully.
“I don’t know. That boy was pretty cute!” Anna answered with an excited voice.
~~~
It was recess time. I, Anna, Fitri, and Ria went to the canteen to have something to eat. We also ran our promise to accompany her to eat her breakfast. Anna bought noodle and an ice-tea. Fitri and I just bought snacks and bottle water.
“Hey, that’s the boy from this morning. Remember?” asked Anna while she pointed to a familiar boy.
“Where? I can’t see him,” Ria said curiously.
“There. He’s over there joking with his friends. I want to go there,” Anna stood up and started to walk to that boy.
“Anna, wait!” I shouted her name and grabbed her hand.
“What?! Is something wrong with me?!” Anna asked angrily. She let go off my hand and kept walking.
“No! I mean, what are you going to there? Come to him and smile then come back with a broken-heart?!” I replied with a little raised-up voice.
“Hey, I just want to know his name, Desta!” Anna grabbed my hand and shook it hardly.
“You know what, come on! Don’t waste your time here looking at some unknown guys and break your own heart. Let’s go to class!” I pulled her hand while saying that and walked with her in silence.
I could see Anna’s face. The sadness and disappointed face on her look so clear. I wanted to apologize, but maybe she understands about that. The rest of the day went so boring without talking to her. I did a very big mistake not to let her know who that boy is.
~~~
“Oops, sorry! I didn’t mean to drop your book. Let me help you,” I heard a boy talking to Anna when she accidently dropped her book.
“Oh, no. It’s o—“Anna didn’t finish her sentences because she gasped when she saw the boy’s face. “You were the boy who gave me that paper, right?”
“Umm… You actually remembered me? Hahaha… Hey, what’s your name?” he asked Anna then helped her carry her book until parking lot.
“My name is Anna,” Anna answered and flew her smile to the boy.
“So beautiful, like your face,” the boy said complimenting Anna’s look.
“Thanks. By the way, what’s your name?” Anna asked with a big blushed on her face.
“My name is Putra. Hmm… Is this your car?” Putra asked when Anna stopped by her car.
“Ekhm…” I cleared my throat when Putra and Anna got a little close to each other.
“What’s wrong?” Anna turned to me and asked me with a glare.
“Nothing. I was just clearing my throat, okay? Anyway, Anna let’s go home,” I replied quickly and got inside Anna’s car.
“Yeah, whatever. Hey, dude, nice to meet you! Hmm… See you tomorrow, Putra,” Anna said when Putra already gave her book back and walked away. Anna also waved at him.
“Bye! Nice to meet you, too, girl! See ya tomorrow,” Putra said walking away.
The whole ride to home was so quiet. Anna couldn’t stop smiling and blushing. She was very happy about what she just heard. I was happy for her, too.
~~~
The next morning, Fitri came to me and yelled at me with a huge excited voice. She looked very happy and I could tell that she was just heard a good new. I stood there in front of her and tried to calm her down.
“Umm… Guess what?” she started talking.
“What? You bumped your head to the wall and start acting like crazy girl?” I answered and crossed my arm.
“No. I met a really, really cute boy! I couldn’t believe what I just saw! He was so handsome and really cute!! You have to see him!” she said pulling me to the doorway. Then, she pointed to one of an eight-grader.
“Him? You’re kidding, right?” I looked at her confusedly and said with a weird expression.
“Yeah. Why not? He’s pretty cute and handsome…” she said and blushed when the boy she was just talked about smiled at her. “He gave me a smile! Oh my god!”
“Whoa! You got a serious love-fever, girl!” I hit her hand playfully then walked inside the class.
“You’re just jealous because you don’t like anybody. Admit it?” she crossed her arm and walked along with me.
“No. First of all, Anna got a huge crush on our senior. Now, you have one, too? Wow! I was wondering when Ria will get her turn,” I glared at Fitri and sat down.
“She’ll get hers in these several weeks. I can truly see that,” Fitri answered then walked away.
~~~
At lunch time, I couldn’t believe what happened. Putra and the boy who Fitri likes came to our lunch table and had their lunch with us. I didn’t know what they were planning about, but I was guessing it was something about relationship.
After lunch, we went back to class to study something and to talk. While Ria was out to the canteen, we talked about things that were just happened at the cafeteria.
“So, what were you guys talking about?” I asked politely and curiously.
“Umm… Putra asked me to be his girlfriend, and I definitely said yes to the offer,” Anna answered quickly and clearly.
“Wow, that fast? He had his guts already!” I replied in amazement. “What about you, Fitri? You seemed so happy all the time.”
“Kind of the same thing. But, we were more like shy girl and boy. So, we’re going to walk along with it slowly,” Fitri answered casually.
“Hmm… Good to know,” I replied short. “By the way, where is Ria?”
So, I went outside and saw Ria sitting with a smile across her face. She was looking at a boy, the 8th grader. I was getting a little curious about her.
“Hey, Ria! What’s up?” I asked a little make her shocked.
“Whoa!” Ria shocked. “Just looking at the cutest thing in the whole universe.” She said that with a big smiley face.
“Who? What?” I asked again.
“Him. I heard his name is Shandy. Nice to know him. He smiled back, you know!” Ria answered excitedly.
“Okay, so are you going to talk to him?” I asked and playfully pushed her.
“Maybe. But, later,” Ria answered short then walked away.
This day was a creeping day. It seemed like today everybody got one mate for their soul. Well, except me. Because, I don’t really like anybody.
~~~
“You’re Shandy, right?” Ria asked when she accidently bumped to a boy while walking with me.
“Umm… Yes, how do you know my name?” that boy answered and asked back.
“Your friends called you yesterday, and I heard that. So, can I talk to you at lunch?” Ria said bravely.
“Sure. I have times. So, it’ll just be the two of us, or with another people?” Shandy asked getting close to Ria.
“I don’t know. Well, maybe. But, I’ll bring her,” said Ria pointed at me.
“What?!” I gasped.
“Yeah. Do you mind?” Ria asked with a puppy-dog face and a begging-face.
“No. Not at all,” I answered and sighed.
“Good,” Ria and Shandy answered at the same time. They gasped and blushed away.
“See you at lunch, Ria. Nice to meet you,” Shandy walked away and waved at Ria.
“See you, too. Handsome,” Ria whispered and turned her head around.
So, today, I had to accompany Ria with her chat-mate? Well, if there’ll be something special, I’m guessing I’m the first one who knows it.
RIIING! The bell rang loudly and almost broke my ears. It was lunch time. Ria was getting so excited and that was really scared me out. But, I tried to hide my scared face.
So, we sat on the open seat and waited for Shandy to come. About 15 minutes after waiting, Shandy walked over to us and started talking to Ria. They felt awkward because I was there between the two. Then, they asked me to move away. But, I still keep my ear to their words.
“So, umm… Do you have any girlfriend, yet?” Ria started one interesting topic.
Shandy looked shy and faced another direction. Then he said, “No. You know, it’s hard finding the perfect girl for me. They all are the same type; cheaters, over-reacting, too confidence, and they love to lie. Maybe, I’ll find one perfect one later.”
“Now, do you have one candidate? I’m just asking. That’s horrible for a good boy like you. But, I think you’ll find one soon,” Ria said that and gave him her smile.
“I have one, though. She’s really special. I’ve known her in years. But, I seem like I don’t have the right time to tell her. Not right now, ‘because I’m still scared of getting rejection and hurts. And also, I’m scared of losing her as a friend,” Shandy said calmly while looking straight to Ria’s eyes. “I think… I was just… I don’t have my guts and bravery to ask her, yet.”
“Oh. So, I bet she’s waiting for you, too. And, she’ll be the luckiest girl on earth if she say yes when you’re asking her. Or, maybe she doesn’t notice you, yet. But, she’s feeling you so close,” Ria said with a little sad face. Her eyes got watery all the sudden. I was shocked at that moment and I came right down to her. “Shandy, I have to go. I gotta see my best friends. See ya!”
“Ria! Wait…” Shandy shouted. But, Ria didn’t look back.
I was running after Ria. She looked pretty upset and sad about the words Shandy just said. Maybe, it felt so hurt to her knowing that Shandy already had his special girl. If I were Ria, I’ll feel the same thing.
~~~
A few days after what happened to Ria, all of the sudden, things got messed up. Shandy never walks in front of our class, Ria never talk about Shandy, and it seemed like the two of them got really frustrated.
“Ria, are you, okay?” Shandy asked Ria when he saw her in front of the class with her swollen eyes. I over-heard them. Hehehe…
“Please, Shandy, can you give me my moment? Leave me alone!” Ria a little yelled at Shandy but she didn’t have an eye-contact with him.
“Look, I’m sorry! I was just so frustrated about your feelings. You’ve changed these several weeks. You didn’t talk to me, you didn’t text me, and you didn’t even say ‘Hi!’ to me when I greeted you. Come on, Ria! I’m so sorry. I don’t wanna lose you as my 7th grader friend. Ria, please,” Shandy hold Ria’s arm tightly and he looked like he didn’t want Ria to go.
“First, why do you have to care about me? I’m just one of your junior! I know we’re in the same neighborhood, but I just need my alone time, okay! Shandy, you have your special girl, ask her out so you don’t get frustrated thinking about me! Now, excuse me,” Ria said with tears all over her cheeks and her eyes got really puffy.
“Ria, wait!” Shandy pulled Ria’s arm and walked closer to her. “I’m gonna prove it to you that I’ll ask my special girl. Right now!”
“What… What do you mean, Shandy?” Ria turned around and found Shandy already kneeled to the ground.
“You’re my special girl. The one I’ve known for nine years, I spent all my time with you wondering when the right time is. And I’m still wondering if you notice me or not. Now, maybe I’ll have my answers,” Shandy said still holding Ria’s hand.
“Get up!” Ria said to Shandy.
Shandy got up and continued, “So, will you be my girlfriend and be my special one and only girl in my life? I’ll take your best answer. I like you, Ria!”
“Sorry, I don’t like you…” Ria said with a teary eyes and smile appeared really fast at her face.
Shandy shocked and showed his disappointed face, sad face, and he almost walked away. Lucky, Ria holds his arm and make a clear decision.
“I don’t like you… But, I love you. I was waiting for you to say it. Then, I heard you have your special girl, I thought it wasn’t me. Now, I know. Thanks, Shandy,” Ria cleared her words and hugged Shandy real quick.
“I love you, too,” Shandy answered and hugged her back real quickly. There were no teachers around. But, they were so shy.
“Hmm… So, guys, I know you’ve found your love now, but don’t show the romantic-scene here. It’s school, all right?” I walked up to them and interrupted their moments.
“You’re jealous!” Ria and Shandy answered playfully at the same time.
Now, there was no broken-hearted person, no one left behind, except me. But, my best friends promise they will always accompany me to everywhere and still be my best friends. That’s all I need; happiness, friendship, and true-love.
~The End~
